Twitch streams can start while you are away and can run for hours. A phone screen recorder is useful when you are watching a short section, but it is a poor unattended recorder: calls, overlays, low-power modes and a network change can interrupt the result. TwitchRec moves capture to an isolated recorder and uses Telegram for commands and delivery.
TwitchRec supports public channels that are accessible to its guest recorder; you do not need to submit a broadcaster list to start using it. Public availability alone does not create permission to store or redistribute a stream. Before recording, confirm that you are the broadcaster, act for the broadcaster, or otherwise have the rights and permissions required for the intended use.
What you need
You need the channel login shown in the Twitch URL, such as twitchdev, or the official HTTPS channel URL, such as https://www.twitch.tv/twitchdev. TwitchRec also accepts a numeric broadcaster identifier, either as 141981764 or id:141981764, but most users should use the channel login or official URL.
The bot never asks for a Twitch password. By default it resolves identity and live state through the public guest interface used by Twitch's website, then uses the Streamlink Twitch integration to access playable public media. A developer application is not required for this mode. The recorder stores the numeric identity and channel login so display-name capitalization does not silently point to another account.
Start a live that is already online
Open @twitchliverec_bot in Telegram and send:
/rec twitchdev
You may replace twitchdev with the channel's login or official URL. TwitchRec resolves the account, checks current live state and applies creator blocks and plan limits. An offline or unknown channel is rejected before capture. A source that advertises a live but returns no playable media is marked unsuccessful rather than delivered as an empty video. These technical checks do not verify your recording rights.
One manual request uses one manual-concurrency slot until that recording ends. Free has one manual slot; Basic has ten; Pro has twenty-five. Several eligible recipients asking for the same broadcast share a single underlying capture instead of downloading the source repeatedly.
Schedule the next broadcast
Use /watch twitchdev when the creator is offline or when you want future eligible broadcasts recorded automatically. /watchlist shows the saved channels and removal controls. /unwatch twitchdev removes a channel from your list.
Free tracks two channels and can receive one active recording. Basic tracks twenty-five with twenty-five active recordings; Pro tracks one hundred with one hundred active recordings. A watchlist slot is not a promise that every broadcast will be captured. Twitch can change source behavior, the account may be ineligible, the plan may be at capacity or a network interruption may prevent usable media.
What happens while recording
TwitchRec resolves the playable public source with a pinned Streamlink integration and writes completed transport-stream chunks. A growing file is never handed to the processing pipeline. Each finished chunk is uploaded with size and checksum metadata so a retry cannot silently replace earlier media.
When the creator ends the broadcast, the recorder closes the final segment and seals the job. The media pipeline validates video dimensions, codecs, audio and timeline continuity, then prepares the Telegram-compatible MP4. Free delivery is limited to the first hour. Basic and Pro can receive up to eight hours when the source remains available.
What arrives in Telegram
The archive helper first publishes a single album to the private TwitchRec Cloud Archive. The album contains the video, or ordered video parts when Telegram's file limit requires splitting, plus one timestamped contact sheet. Each video has its own player cover. The TwitchRec mark and TwitchLiveRec.com are applied only to those cover images and the contact sheet; the video frames themselves are not altered.
After the archive commit, the main TwitchRec bot copies the same stored album to every currently eligible recipient. This prevents a second upload for each user and keeps the delivered media consistent. The bot persists delivery state, rate limits and retry identifiers before sending so restarts do not intentionally duplicate a completed delivery.
Quality and interruptions
The recorder cannot create detail that Twitch did not publish. If the selected public source is 720p, downloading it as a larger file would not reconstruct 1080p detail. Telegram may initially show a low-resolution streaming preview; download the delivered file before judging the captured resolution.
Source loss, Twitch maintenance, a broadcaster ending the stream or a malformed segment can shorten a result. TwitchRec keeps recoverable evidence for bounded retry windows and validates the merged duration before delivery. It does not claim that every live can be recovered.
Responsible use
Review Twitch's Terms of Service and Developer Agreement, and obtain permission where required. Do not use a recording to harass, impersonate or expose sensitive information. Broadcasters and rights holders can use the TwitchRec creator-rights form to request correction, opt-out or removal.
