OBS Studio is a powerful production tool. TwitchRec is an automation service. The right choice depends on whether you want to operate a recording workstation or simply receive completed public lives.
OBS advantages
OBS can combine windows, webcams, overlays and audio sources. You control the encoder, canvas size, bitrate and local file path. It is ideal when you are producing your own broadcast or need a composed scene rather than the source stream alone.
OBS also requires the computer to remain powered, connected and configured. Capturing browser playback can include buffering, controls or system audio issues. Scheduling many creators needs additional automation.
TwitchRec advantages
TwitchRec accepts a Twitch creator ID or official share link. The watchlist checks public live state, avoids duplicate captures of the same live and sends the completed result through Telegram. There is no scene or encoder configuration on your machine.
The service records only supported public Twitch media. It is not a replacement for OBS scenes, private-source credentials or live rebroadcasting.
Can both be used together?
Yes. You might use OBS for your own production and TwitchRec to save a separate copy of a public live. An OBS crash on your computer does not stop a TwitchRec recording that already started.
Which is easier for several creators?
A TwitchRec watchlist is simpler for unattended monitoring. OBS is better when a human operator needs visual control over one or more layouts in real time.
